  • orally completed 257:15,16 (TB) and 128:10 (WB).
Homework: 257:16, read 259-60, complete 261: 20.

Period 3 students:
  • checked homework,
  • reviewed the gender of vocabulary from homework,
  • talked about what they eat/drink at lunch and dinner, and
  • completed 366:6 and 7.
Homework: 367: 8 (+translation) and 9.

Period 4 students:
  • completed a vocabulary activity to review foods and beverages,
  • practiced the gender of the words in the first activity,
  • checked homework and completed a progressive translation activity with it,
  • orally completed 366-7: 6 and 7, and
  • reviewed the conversational past of strong/weak/mixed verbs with pantomime activity.
Homework: 367: 8 (translation) and 9. Quiz announced for Tuesday on the conversational past of weak, strong, and mixed verbs.

Period 3 students:

  • completed progressive and full translation activities with homework sentences, and
  • reviewed and expanded vocabulary relating to meals.
Homework: complete the worksheet on food and meals given in class.

Period 4 students:
  • reviewed verbs with infinitives,
  • took a quiz on verbs with infinitives,
  • learned how to form and use the future tense pp.420-421,
  • completed and checked activities 1 and 2 on page 221 of the workbook,
  • completed progressive and full translation activities with sentences from activity 2, and
  • previewed the homework.

  • orally completed activities 7 and 8 on page 253 of the textbook.
Homework: 128:9 (workbook) and 264:21 (textbook).

Period 3 students:
  • took a quiz on strong verbs with out vowel changes and mixed verbs,
  • completed and checked GVE 6 (handout),
  • completed progressive translations based on GVE 6, and
  • went over the names for meals and selected foods.
Homework: completed the handout GVE 8 and translate the sentences.

Period 4B students:
  • completed and checked a crossword puzzle to practice strong verbs,
  • took a quiz on strong verbs without vowel changes and mixed verbs,
  • completed and checked GVE 6,
  • did a progressive translation activity based on GVE6,
  • reviewed and expanded foods vocabulary, and
  • previewed the homework.
Handout: completed handout distributed in class (GVE 8) and be sure to translate the sentences.

  • reviewed the significant holidays during the year and what is appropriate to say at each one,
  • heard and retold a joke about tomatoes, and
  • learned about adjective endings with ein-words.
Homework: rewrite the sentences, substituting each noun phrase with a new one pp.252-253.

Period 3 students:
  • took a quiz on the infinitives and past participles of verbs with stem-vowel changes,
  • completed and checked a crossword to practice the participles of strong verbs,
  • reviewed strong verbs with no vowel change, and
  • practiced asking and answer questions about the past with selected strong verbs.
Homework: memorize the remaining strong and mixed verbs for a quiz.

Period 4B students:
  • were reminded to CONJUGATE verbs, i.e. don't speak in infinitives,
  • practiced conjugating rĂ©ussir, apprender, pouvoir, vouoir, and devoir in the present tense,
  • composed phrases based on eight illustrations,
  • completed and checked activity 5 page 219,
  • orally completed page 415:6 and 7,
  • completed listening/speaking activities F and G page 88 of the workbook to DF,
  • wrote out sentences to activity G, and
  • practiced the format for Thursday's quiz.
Homework: complete activities 6 and 7 on page 415 of Discovering French. The test originally scheduled for today was postponed until Thursday to give students additional time to study and practice.

Period 2 students:
  • checked homework,
  • learned about major holidays on the German calender pp.248-249, and
  • orally went over 250:6.
Homework: 250:5,6. Use a 2009 calender for activity 5.

Period 3 students:
  • listed verbs with irregular past participles and vowel changes in English,
  • wrote the German infinitives and the past participles, and
  • answered and asked questions about the weekend using these verbs.
Homework: Study for a quiz on the verbs we went over in class today.

Period 4A students:
  • reviewed the past participles of verbs with stem vowel changes,
  • answered and asked questions about the weekend with these verbs,
  • took a quiz on strong verbs with vowel changes,
  • heard and retold a couple of German jokes,
  • went over the remaining strong verbs for which to learn past participles and four mixed verbs.
Homework: Memorize the infinitives and the past participles of the irregular verbs that do not have vowel changes and the mixed verbs.
